#ThankfulThursday WSA is Thankful for @tom_bujno Tom is a Jersey kid who did a stint in the Navy and moved to California and started surfing in 1970 while attending Palomar Jr. College. He taught at Oak Crest Junior High in Encinitas and founded the YMCA Championship Surf Series and Junior High School Surf League in 1976. In 1978 he was on the board of NSSA and began judging for them. He coached San Dieguito High School Surf Team until 1995 and won NSSA Nationals in 1991. He started with WSA in 1980 as a head judge for District 5A and joined the board of directors. He traveled with many teams of kids for surfing cultural exchanges to England, Venezuela, Costa Rica and France. He was a US National Surf Team Judge for the ISA World Amateur Surfing Championships in 1986 Great Britain, 1988 Puerto Rico, and 1990 Japan. He has also been involved with Roxy, Rabbit Kekai, OP Pro and ASP Surfing competitions around the world. He has been taking the entries and doing the heats for WSA since 1989 and manages to keep it all straight, even with 500+ competitors! Next time you see Tom tell him thanks for his years of service to WSA and surfing.
